Bejewelled Eggs Online Beading Class

Previously a live Zoom class, but now available as an online beading workshop!

Create a 3-Dimensional Fabergé style egg using peyote stitch. This locket-style pendant can open with a hinge and hidden clasp to reveal a surprise of your choice – or be stitched closed with a chiming ball inside for a musical pendant. These dinky eggs measure just 3.5cm high when complete.

There are lots of variations for this project; besides creating a hinged locket or a closed ornament, you can choose the type of clasp you use (magnetic or beaded); whether you use Crystaletts for the centre or bicones; whether to add an embellishment or even the size of the finished egg!

Most suitable for intermediate-advanced beaders. Previous experience of peyote in the round is helpful.

How does an online beading class work?

Upon booking you’ll be sent your PDF pattern which includes links to videos throughout it to help you work through the project. The number of videos varies depending on the project but all of the trickiest parts will be covered with a demo.

Each project also includes a welcome PDF. This includes hints and tips for getting the most from my online beading classes. There is an introductory YouTube video for each project, which I recommend you watch (you’ll need to be online for this). This video is also your virtual classroom – with the chat on the video being the place to ask questions and share ideas.

As part of your Online Beading Class package, you get access to one of my UFO-Busting Zoom sessions for free! You can come along to any one of these UFO sessions, it doesn’t have to be in the month you purchased the class.

What’s more I’ll also send you emails throughout the month to see how you’re doing and to help you keep on track with your project. You’ll need to make sure you’re subscribed to my mailing list to ensure you receive these. At the checkout, please make sure you check the ‘receive emails box’ even if you are already a subscriber, to make sure you get these check-in emails while you work through the course!

Workshop Materials

Materials not included. You will be sent a full requirements list upon booking along with the pattern. You will need:

• Size 11 Toho Demis

• Size 11 Japanese seed beads

• Size 15 Japanese seed beads in 2 colours

• 3mm Swarovski Crystaletts® Buttons (optional)

• 3mm Bicones

• Chiming ball (optional)

• Split ring, ribbon or chain to hang

• Small 5-6mm magnetic clasp (optional)

Tanzee Designs (based in UK) stocks all of the materials needed for this project. If you can’t find what you are looking for then do give them a ring and they will be able to help you match colours and find suitable swaps. For US folk, Jill Wiseman Designs stocks most of the necessary beads and materials in a lovely array of colours (except for the Crystaletts® buttons and chiming balls). The project can also be made with size 8s and 11s, 4mm bicones and size 8 Demis for a larger egg.
