Rêves Bird Cage Beading Pattern

Explore the possibilities of herringbone stitch with this three-dimensional beading project. Previously a workshop only project but now available as a pattern!

In this pattern you’ll weave an elegant and dainty cage structure using seed beads and add a tiny bird charm to the interior. You’ll learn how to weave whimsical vines and floral elements to finish off this pretty vintage-style pendant or ornament. Watch the video below to see it up close! It’s perfect as an ornament or pendant.

The tutorial includes step by step diagrams, close-up photos where extra explanation is needed and easy to follow instructions. Experience of working in peyote stitch is recommended for this project.­ Stitches include herringbone, peyote in the round and freeform. Most suitable for intermediate beaders.

Materials required:

• Size 11 and 15 Japanese seed beads in a selection of colours
• Czech glass flower beads
• 4mm glass pearls
• A bird charm or bead (I love TierraCast’s Palma birds)
