Peyote stitch is a very useful stitch to know and is the basis for many beadweaving projects. It can be used for bracelets, as bezels for stones and for creating geometric shapes. Peyote stitch can be worked flat or in the round and there are several variations. It’s a great place to start!
This tutorial covers:
- Flat and tubular peyote
- Odd and even count
- Two-needle and single-needle start
- Zipping up.

Materials required:
- Japanese seed beads (eg Toho or Miyuki) or Cylinder beads (eg Miyuki Delicas)
- Beading thread (eg SoNO, OneG, KO, Miyuki, or Superlon)
- Beading needles
- Embroidery scissors
