Beading by the Sea retreat

The location:

Beading by the Sea will take place on Hayling Island.

Hayling is a small seaside town on the south coast in Hampshire, UK – and my home town! Yes, we are an island, but don’t worry, we have a bridge, so no need to get your feet wet!
We have miles of beautiful beaches, both shingle and sand and plenty to offer for a quiet weekend away.

We’ll be beading in a location that’s about 10 minutes’ walk away from the beach, close to local shop and amenities. The evening socials will be in pretty waterfront locations.

Workshop Materials & the class project

We’ll be beading my beautiful Beaders’ Holiday design – an exclusive design that has only been taught once before (when I taught on tour in Czechia).

In this fun workshop we will combine a medley of Czech glass beads with Japanese seed beads to weave sparkling components. It’s up to you whether you choose to combine them into a dazzling tassel pendant, a statement necklace or keep them as smaller components to use as you wish.

Materials are not included. You will be sent a full requirements list upon booking.

For full pendant & earrings you will need:

• 6mm 2-hole Tile beads
• Size 15  & 11 Miyuki seed beads
• 4mm Czech glass pearls or Druks
• 6mm Czech glass pearls or Druks
• 4mm crystal bicones
• 14mm rivoli
• 10mm rivolis (you can also use 8mm)
• 1 x 8cm tassel
• Earwires
• Cord and findings

Kit add-on. There are optional kits available to pre-order in a choice of three colours. The kit includes enough materials to make the three components shown in the tassel pendant + 2 triangle components for earrings.

These will be ready for you to collect at the event. I recommend pre-ordering, as although I will make extras, I cannot guarantee quantities or your choice of colour if purchased on the day. Kits are optional – you are welcome to use your own stash.

About the retreat

Spaces are limited! This retreat will be capped at 16 participants.

The retreat workshops will take place at a hand-picked venue on Hayling Island. You will be responsible for booking your own separate accommodation for the weekend – a handy guide to the local area and a list of places to stay will be supplied upon booking.

Lunches and meals are not included, but the venue is situated close to local shops and cafes, and there are plenty of great places to eat on Hayling Island for evening meals, including pubs, Indian restaurants and the British staple of Fish ‘n Chips.
