The Horsebridge, Kent. Hosted by Bead’n’Banter, Whitstable

Create a 3-Dimensional pendant with moving parts! Use Cubic Right Angle Weave (CRAW) and seed beads to create spinning rings to encompass a bezelled crystal. These will be ingeniously joined together to allow them to move independently for a stunning, wearable pendant. It also makes an interesting tree ornament.

Most suitable for intermediate-advanced beaders. Previous experience of RAW and CRAW is recommended. Feel free to bring your own beads, alternatively kits will be available at the workshop.

Workshop Materials

Materials not included. You will be sent a full requirements list upon booking along with the pattern. You will need:

  • 2 x 14mm Swarovski flat back chessboard stones – or a 14mm flat backed cabochon or round bead (please note rivolis or chatons are not suitable)

  • Japanese size 11 seed beads in two colours

  • Japanese size 15 seed beads

  • 1 x 12-14mm crystal drop pendant or briolette (or larger if you prefer)

  • A pinch of 3mm Miyuki spacers or size 8 Toho Demi rounds

  • 0.6mm wire

  • 8mm jump ring, headpins and earwires

  • Ribbon to hang

  • Small piece of toning Ultrasuede (approx. 3cm x 3cm)

Note on beads: Toho beads give a really nice finish to this piece; you will end up with a slightly chunkier more square finish. Miyuki will give a more rounded finish but work just as well!
