This virtual workshop will be taught over two 2.5-hour sessions. You will be sent a PDF instruction booklet upon booking to print at home.

Embrace the spirit of Ancient Egypt with this dramatic pendant that uses a combination of stitches, including Right Angle Weave and incorporates Czech glass beads and sparkling crystals.

The finished piece is hung on a Chenille beaded rope – instructions for this are included but you can choose to hang it on a a cord or chain if you prefer!

This project was inspired by the ancient Gods of Egypt and represents creative cycles. Khepri was God of the rising run and was depicted often as a scarab holding aloft the morning sun. He was seen as subordinate to the greater sun god Ra. The Eye of Ra was a goddess and was an extension of Ra’s power – she was his consort.

Suitable for intermediate-advanced beaders. Experience of Right Angle Weave is recommended.

Online Workshop Requirements

The class will be taught using Zoom online meeting software. This will allow you to see me and your fellow classmates (you will have the ability to mute or turn off your camera at any point if you wish). We can also share photos as we work.

You will need a computer/laptop, smartphone or tablet with camera and audio capabilities. You will need to download the free Zoom software or app to your computer, phone or tablet in advance of the meeting. Full details of how to join the online meeting will be sent to you upon booking. The app/software is free and you do not need to create an account to attend the class.

Workshop Materials

Materials not included. You will be sent a full requirements list upon booking along with the instructions. You will need:

Tanzee Designs (based in UK) stocks all of the materials needed for this project (except the Tierracast eye charm and Scarab bead). If you can’t find what you are looking for then do give them a ring and they will be able to help you match colours and find suitable swaps. For US folk, Jill Wiseman Designs stocks all the necessary beads and materials in a lovely array of colours (except the scarab and eye charm). The Bead Shop Nottingham stocks the Scarab bead – while stocks last.

About the class

Class sizes are kept small so you can be guaranteed plenty of help and support. I will have two cameras in use during the class so you will be able to see my demonstrations up close as well as my face! There is a messaging function in addition to the meeting audio as well so plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss the project.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the session and the fact you will be sent the full instructions upon booking refunds cannot be given if you are unable to make one or both of the sessions. If you cannot make one/both of the sessions I will try to swap you to another date for the same project if available but this cannot be guaranteed. I am always available if you have any questions on the project after the workshop.

If you have any questions please contact me. I’m looking forward to seeing you!
