Jane Seymour’s Beaded Locket Pattern

£10.00

Be inspired by delicate Tudor jewellery in this beautiful hinged locket peyote stitch beading project tutorial.

Suitable for Intermediate-Advanced beaders.

Description

Weave a delicate Tudor-inspired locket pendant using Delica beads and seed beads.

I took inspiration from pictures of jewellery thought to be worn by Jane Seymour for this project; in this instance a stunning lapis lazuli and filigree metal locket. I re-imagined it with seed beads and beautiful semi-precious cabochons.

The glass cabochon shown here features a love sonnet by Shakespeare; another famous Tudor from a few generations later than Jane. You can buy my handmade cabochons here or you could use any 18x25mm cabochon of your choice inside.

A knowledge of peyote stitch is necessary for this project and a little experience of bezelling cabochons with beads would be helpful.

Previously published in the Beadworkers Guild Journal.

You will need:

  • Japanese seed beads in sizes 8, 11 and 15
  • Miyuki Delica beads
  • Crystalett® Button (or bead for clasp)
  • 1 x 18x25mm oval glass cabochon
  • 1 x 13x18mm oval semi-precious cabochon
  • Thread, scissors, synthetic wax and beading needles

This pattern is most suitable for intermediate-advanced beaders. A knowledge of peyote stitch would be helpful. The tutorial includes computer-drawn diagrams, close-up photos where extra explanation is needed and easy to follow instructions.

While I am happy for you to sell any items you make using this tutorial, I do ask that you credit me as the designer and I kindly ask that you do not copy, teach or share my pattern.
