Heritage Birds of the UK Peyote Stitch Pen Wrap Pattern

I was inspired to look to the gardens and countryside of the UK and pay tribute to some of the beautiful birds we are lucky to find there. In this sweet beaded pen wrap design you’ll find the cheeky robin, kingfisher, bullfinch, blue tit and goldfinch. This pen pattern was previously published in the Beadworkers Guild Journal.

This wrap measures 36mm x 60mm and fits perfectly around a Pilot G-2 pen. These can be bought easily from most stationers and are refillable.

This a great project for beaders of any level – all you need is a little knowledge of peyote stitch to begin! If you need more help getting started you can find my Guide to Peyote Stitch.

A bonus pattern for making brick stitch charms of the birds is included (a little knowledge of brick stitch is required.)

Full quantities are listed in the pattern. You will need:

• Size 11 Miyuki Delica beads

• 1 x pen (Pilot G-2) – these are refillable and easily sourced online or from most stationers

This project is ideal for beginner-intermediate beaders upwards. It assumes you are comfortable with peyote stitch and following a bead/word chart, as no step-by-step instructions are provided. The tutorial does include a link to a video guide to making peyote pen wraps!
