Description

Encapsulate pearls or crystals inside colourful, self supporting 3-dimensional cubes. Strung on beading wire they make a dramatic geometric necklace, or why not attach a jump ring for a subtler geometric pendant.

This project uses seed beads. It is a great introduction to Cubic Right Angle Weave (CRAW) – or a chance to explore it further. You could easily replace the size 11 seed beads for beads of any size to create larger or smaller cubes.

Previously published in the July 2014 edition of Beadworkers Guild Journal.

Materials required:

  • Size 11 seed beads (I used galvanised Duracoat Miyuki beads)
  • 10mm glass pearls or beads
  • Selection on matching beads for stringing
  • Beading wire, crimps and pliers
  • Fireline beading thread, needles and scissors

Most suitable for intermediate-advanced beaders. A knowledge of Right Angle Weave would be helpful. The tutorial includes step by step diagrams, close-up photos where extra explanation is needed and easy to follow instructions.

While I am happy for you to sell any items you make using this tutorial, I do ask that you credit me as the designer. I kindly ask that you do not copy, teach or share my pattern.
