Discover the joy of bead embroidery! This enchanting project is the perfect introduction to stitching beads onto fabric. We’ll make a beautiful hanging ornament and along the way I’ll show you how to bezel onto beading foundation, we’ll learn seed stitch, work with embellishments, add fringing and I’ll show you how to back and edge your work neatly for a professional finish!

Once you’ve completed your project, you’ll have a whimsical piece to show off your new skills with pride!

We all bead at different speeds, so you may not complete the entire project during the workshop time – but you will have ample opportunity during class to practice all of the techniques and will be provided with a comprehensive instruction booklet to refer to after the class.

You will be sent a PDF upon booking with the requirements list along with notes and suggestions on choosing your colours. The pattern and Zoom link will be sent one week prior to the class.

Online Workshop Requirements

The class will be taught using Zoom online meeting software. This will allow you to see me and your fellow classmates (you will have the ability to mute or turn off your camera at any point if you wish). We can also share photos as we work.

You will need a computer/laptop, smartphone or tablet with camera and audio capabilities. You will need to download the free Zoom software or app to your computer, phone or tablet in advance of the meeting. Full details of how to join the online meeting will be sent to you upon booking. The app/software is free and you do not need to create an account to attend the class.

Workshop Materials

Materials are not included. You will be sent a full requirements list upon booking.

You will need:

• Beading Foundation (eg BeadSmith, Nicole’s or Lacy’s Stiff Stuff)
• UltraSuede
• Focal bead – 12mm or 14mm pressed Czech glass beads work well or cabochon
• Size 11 and 15 seed beads
• Selection of pressed glass beads, I used Ginkos and Crescent beads to make my mushrooms, plus fire polish and pearls
• 3mm crystal bicones
• Size 11 Toho Demis for the edging
• Toning beading thread (One-G, KO, Miyuki)

I have a very limited quantity of the Mushroom beads available, but I also recommend checking out Old Bicycle Shop Beads and Jill Wiseman Designs, who have an excellent selection of etched coin beads in different patterns.

About the class

Class sizes are kept small so you can be guaranteed plenty of help and support. I will have two cameras in use during the class so you will be able to see my demonstrations up close in high definition as well as my face! There is a messaging function in addition to the meeting audio as well so plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss the project. My classes are fun and informal with plenty of opportunity for discussion and general chatter.

If you cannot make the session I will try to swap you to another date for the same class if available, but unfortunately this cannot be guaranteed. If swapping is not possible then I will offer a refund, providing at least 8 days’ notice is given prior to the class start time. Unfortunately, once the Zoom link and pattern have been sent out no refunds can be given after this time.
