Stitch a cute miniature beaded Christmas Pickle ornament to hide on your tree this season using peyote stitch!
This fun project uses three sizes of seed beads in festive green. You’ll learn how to create a 32mm / 1 1/4 inch pickle plus even teenier ones (2cm / 0.7 inch) for earrings!
Materials required:
- Size 8, 11 and seed beads
- Ribbon/elastic to hang/decorate
- Earwires and jump rings
- Beading thread, needles and scissors
Most suitable for intermediate beaders, or adventurous beginners with a little experience of peyote stitch. The tutorial includes step by step diagrams, close-up photos where extra explanation is needed and easy to follow instructions.
The legend of the Christmas Pickle
The tradition of the Christmas Pickle is an American one dating from the 19th Century. An ornamental pickle is hidden on the family tree! On Christmas morning, the first child to find the pickle receives an extra present from Santa Claus – or, is said to have a year of good fortune!
