Making Jewellery – Issue 80

I’ve been looking forward to this issue for a while. We designers were challenged to create projects inspired by photographs and I had a lot of fun with my design!

I take a lot of photographs; of my guinea pigs, friends, my creations – but I also enjoy taking photos of things that catch my attention, in the hope that they might be useful for a future project. Whilst in Scotland last year and on the long journey back down south, we stopped in to visit the gardens of the dramatic Drumlanrig Castle. I took lots of snaps, but was particularly taken with the designs captured in wrought iron on many of the railings.

The seat of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry, railings featured the family crest – a winged heart and crown. I loved the idea of stitching a crown and so the Queensberry Treasure set was born.
