What a blast I had at the Beadworkers Guild Great British Bead Show last weekend! I’ve been shattered all week but it was worth it to be around so many beady peeps!
What is the GBBS?
It’s a bi-annual event run by the Beadworkers Guild that brings together some of the best beading tutors from the UK and beyond for five days of classes, socials, the AGM and capped off with a bead fair to shop, shop, shop!
If you don’t know, as well as volunteering for the Guild on their social media and International Beading Week teams, I am also Advertising Coordinator for the Journal. So the event is also a brilliant opportunity to catch up with Guild trustees, employees and other members! I was only there for 2 days and feel like I didn’t take nearly enough photos!
Saturday 6th May
Saturday I got to visit the classrooms to take some snaps for the Journal, and hung out on the Guild stand. Dinner was a delicious meal and a fab opportunity to really catch up with several new and old faces!
Then it was time for some socialising before the AGM! I got to catch up with the Journal team, see many of my beading buddies and find out who had placed in the Beadworkers Guild ‘Fur & Feather’ Challenge. You can see a peek at my entry into the challenge below which I entered into the Matchbox category.
Sunday 7th May
Sunday at the Bead Bazaar was a blur! This was the first year I have exhibited at this event.Thank you to everyone who stopped by my stand, I had so many lovely and encouraging comments – it really gave me a lift. Beaders really are the best kind of people! It was wonderful to catch up with so many beading buddies – I miss them already.
I was so busy on my stand that I didn’t manage to do ANY shopping (apart from collecting a pack of pre ordered clasps!). It was such a thrill seeing people coo over my patterns and kits – my Jazzy Flowers and Kawaii Cacti were the stars of the show. Thanks everyone who took the time to pop by and say nice things.
I also got to meet Erika and Zuzi from Beading School face-to-face for the first time which was a blast! We have cooked up another exciting collaboration too so stay tuned for news on that!
