Today I want to share with you a little about the trials and tribulations of being a small business owner, and some honest reflections – on today Black Friday.
Things have been pretty quiet here over the past few months. I haven’t seen the rush that I usually see at this time of year, with beaders getting their festive-themed makes together and creating holiday gifts.
It’s been a little worrying to be honest. I guess there’s a few business mistakes I’ve made, things I could have done better, but I’ve also spoken to many other small businesses who have been experiencing the same thing.
I know that things are extra tight for many of us at the moment. Our pennies aren’t stretching and with Christmas just around the corner, I know I’m not the only one who’s wondering how to make it all work!
Make your money count
Today, on Black Friday, I just wanted to ask you that, if over the next few days you are making the most of the many sales and offers taking place, please shop mindfully and shop small wherever you can.
It really does make a huge difference to small businesses. I really love to get on board with Holly Tucker’s joyful Colour Friday event which she says is “a bold stand against the noise of over-consumption and a celebration of creativity, talent, and the soul of small businesses”.
If you can’t support with your money though, then that’s ok!
There are other ways you can support small businesses and makers such as by liking and commenting on our social media posts, sharing your makes or purchases on your own social media and leaving reviews. 💜
I love illustrator Joanne Hawker’s Instagram post today, she words it just perfectly. Do take a read!

I’ve got some more news from Pinkhot coming later but for now I just want to say thank you for supporting me and my business over this past year – whether you’ve taken a class, spoken to me at an event or followed me on social media.
Happy beading!
Chloe
